L’Enfance de l’art
Creators: Elzbieta
| Contents/Chapters: The child and the artist live in the same country. It's a land without borders. A place of transformations and metamorphoses. Elzbieta's Elzbieta has chosen for herself. For over twenty-five years, she has written and illustrated stories for children. In 1997, for the first time with L'Enfance de l'Art, she turned her attention to adults, questioning the creative process for children and her personal approach as an author-illustrator. Having quickly established itself as a reference work for those interested in children's art, it was necessary to respond to the many requests by reissuing L'Enfance de l'Art in a new version, featuring Elzbieta's latest albums, new characters and new images. Surrounded by Larirette the mouse, Flon-Flon and Musette, Couci-Couça and the other characters from her children's books, Elzbieta lets older images emerge from her memory, images that formed the visual universe of her childhood. of her childhood. She tells us about the fairy with the fox, the teddy bear Mich or the dog Théodore, and gives us vivid memories of her childhood experiences (in Mulhouse, she lived among the fairies, in England in a strict convent, in Paris with the inhabitants of a lost land...). The disparate panoply of her childhood is, for her, the raw material of her undertakings. The aim of L'Enfance de l'Art is not to give the key to Elzbieta's books, but to ask questions about creation and childhood, and to penetrate the lands where cats leave crescent-moon smiles in the foliage. | Materials: 256 p.; ill. in color ; 22 cm
