L’école d’Antan 1860-1960. découvrir et se souvenir de l’école du Québec.
Creators: Robert Cadotte et Anik Meunier
| Contents/Chapters: Some are nostalgic for it, others disapprove of it, many don't even know it. People attribute real or imagined qualities and defects to it. But the school of yesteryear, which thousands of Quebecers attended for over a century, bears witness to the values of a society, or rather to the values that a certain faction of Quebecers wanted to inculcate and anchor in the hearts and minds of all children. This book takes us back to the schools of the pre-Quiet Revolution era, both French Catholic and Anglo-Protestant. A hundred years of history are recounted through the presentation of Quebec's school heritage, including the uniforms worn by pupils, the religious images placed in their notebooks, the medals used to encourage them, and the famous strappe used to chastise them. It's an opportunity to discover or remember this forgotten school, which is sometimes close to current concerns such as student motivation and dropping out of school. A fascinating read, with a gallery of stunning photos! | Material: 200 p.; ill. in color ; 22,8 cm
