The whole world prided itself on imitating her sweet ways, and people came from all over, at the invitation of the king, her father, to have even the pleasure of contemplating her up close. However, to be worthy of sharing the beautiful child's destiny, it was necessary to pass a series of perilous tests! The happiness of the princess depended on the happiness of the world, and a bad husband could, in fact, have caused her grief and done great harm to all mankind. A humble suitor from a far-off land won the king's trust by triumphing over all the trials. But he immediately lost it when he went to visit his parents. Had he forgotten that, in pledging to try and deserve to marry a princess, one must be prepared to renounce one's family of origin forever? He neglected to blend in with his bride, and the king found his behavior very cynical. He declared that the boy had surely only passed the tests to humiliate his daughter. The princess wept. The unfortunate boy was regarded as an enemy of mankind. A bird with the gift of speech, which he had left with her as a token of his love, tried to make the infanta understand that his master was not aware of his fault, and that the king had completely misunderstood his intentions.
