Les aubes enchantées. les mythes de la création du cercle polaire à l’Océanie
Creators: Jean-Pierre Otte
| Contents/Chapters: After Les Aubes sauvages, this is the second part of an astonishing undertaking in which erudition and writing come together in the transcription of cosmogonies, myths of the origin and creation of the world, collected in all cultures except our Greco-Latin and Judeo-Christian heritage. These texts, most of which are little-known, reveal a profound memory of humanity - the very memory of our imagination. From Siberia to Arizona, from Chile to Central Africa or New Zealand, these mythologies divulged a teaching, an oral tradition, where the enchantment of the audience was a necessity. These stories have the force of primitive visions, which science (think of the "big bang", relativity, biological evolution) has often verified, both intuitively and visionarily: there is talk, for example, of the explosion of stars projected into space, or of a universe born from the "magnificent vomit of a god...". These dawns are also those of desire and love, as among the Tucanos, where the first man unites with the daughter of the Trout; in Polynesia, it's again a hero who, with each loving embrace, reveals a new reality of the world. | Material: 302 p.; no illustrations; 20.6 cm
